Gucci Osteria in Florence has been awarded its first Michelin Star, which the restaurant’s chef describes as an incredible achievement that brings them joy. The 50-seat restaurant, located in Gucci Garden, a museum-style concept store, is led by chef Massimo Bottura, renowned for his three-Michelin-star Osteria Francescana in Modena. The restaurant offers classic Italian dishes such as Parmigiano Reggiano tortellini and mushroom risotto, as well as innovative options like pork belly buns. Bottura expresses gratitude for the support and inspiration provided by Gucci’s CEO, Marco Bizzarri, and creative director, Alessandro Michele. Gucci Garden, designed by Michele, features a combination of fashion, art, and food, and though it lacks an actual garden, it symbolizes nature’s influence on Michele’s designs. Luxury fashion brands like Armani, Christian Dior, and Ralph Lauren are increasingly venturing into the food industry to attract a broader consumer base. Other notable luxury fashion restaurants include Bar Luce by Prada in Milan, Armani Cafe in Dubai, Ralph Lauren’s restaurant Ralph’s in Paris, and Beige in the Chanel Ginza building in Tokyo. The desire for Instagram-worthy dining experiences has driven this trend, and it will be interesting to see which luxury brand enters the food industry next and how they interpret haute cuisine.
The recently awarded Michelin star is a recognition of Gucci Osteria’s culinary excellence in Florence.
